My goodness...Racing is ok, but getting all of this excitment for pre-race activities for a season that will last until the first of December Nascar goes on way too long. I can get excited in March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, or November.

I dont think Nascar should use any word related to football such as "The Super Bowl" of Nascar. Maybe more like the World Cup of Nascar ... there ya go ...

greencrest1272 has mentioned this before, but does anybody think that Nascar is affecting gas prices? Think about it...All of those cars, polution, tires, oil, etc.

So all of the Nextel Cup cars don't run on fuel, they have a lil hampster running on a wheel, right?

Race cars are part of fuel consumption. The more fuel we consume, the higher the price per barrel weill be.

    Re: Feb. 11, 2006

I don't believe anyone on here consumes 113 octane leaded fule that cost upwards of $8.00 a gallon. Everyhting that a nascar team uses is designed and built especially for them and is priced accordingly without impact on the gemeral population. If that was the case then we would have to blame every sport in the world for it with their uses of rubber and plastic in producing their uniforms and equipment, also all the jet fule they use or bus fuel they use traveling to games. None of you are gonna be able to make a good argument for thinking that nascar is increasing fule costs more than anything else.

    Re: Feb. 11, 2006

If race cars didn't use oil to make the 113 octane fuel they need, then the supply would be greater to the general population. Just because the consumption isn't "counted" doesn't mean it doesn't have an effect. If that oil was freed up to be used in the general population's share of gasoline, then prices would fall.
